Hiekka Booking was born on the sand dunes of Kalajoki
(Hiekka = sand)
People have come to the sand dunes of Kalajoki for more than a hundred years. Originally, the sand dunes were a place for the residents of the nearby area, where they spent a few days off – moments to break away from everyday life. Children, adults and the elderly stayed in perfect harmony on the sand dunes. On the sand, people have met, gotten to know each other, fallen in love, parted, experienced joys and sorrows, left and come back. Warm sand in your toes, sun warming the body, they have marveled at the kilometers-long sandy beach and taken a dip in the sea to refresh themselves. One after another, the most beautiful sunsets have been admired on the sand dunes. After a century, people still come to the sand dunes of Kalajoki for the same reasons – to meet and spend moments above everyday life, now only all year round. Enjoying the sea, sun, sand and versatile services.
The first tourism company in the area – Hiliman Hotelli – Hilima’s hotel – offered a place to rest with full board for one night or weeks. Hostess Hilima hosted her guests with a big heart and as her true self. Hilima unknowingly formed the basis for the basic value of Kalajoki tourism – customers are welcomed as if they were our own personal guests.
