  • Beach Bar Surffari serves guests at the Kalajoki camping area from early June until the end of August. At Surffari, you can experience the true beach vibe on the northern “Kalafornian” coast!
  • Restaurant Välke, located within Hotel Santa’s Sani, is a stunning seaside restaurant offering fresh flavors made from local ingredients. You can also enjoy their buffet breakfast, even if you’re not staying at the hotel!

  • Restaurant Shangri-la offers Asian culinary experiences year-round. Here you can enjoy a buffet of delicious Chinese dishes and sushi, or order à la carte meals to take with you. Shangri-la is located on Hilmankuja.

  • Keramiikka Iso-Pahkala: A long-established family business in Kalajoki, specializing in high-fired stoneware ceramics. The ceramic workshop also has a factory store where you can find famous ceramic lighthouses! The workshop is located along Highway 8, just a few kilometers from the Sand Dunes towards the town center.
  • Shop by Tiina: A charming boutique next to the BeachRosé café, right in the heart of the Sand Dunes. In this shop, you’ll find unique jewelry, eco-friendly cleaning products, women’s clothing, and local souvenirs.

Getting around in Kalajoki

Kalajoki is conveniently located along Highway 8, making it easily accessible whether you’re coming from the south, north, or east. While Kalajoki doesn’t have its own train station, you can easily reach the area by bus from the train stations in Kokkola or Ylivieska, with buses heading to either Kalajoki town center or directly to Hiekkasärkät.

The distances within the Hiekkasärkkien area are short, and all local services are within just a few kilometers. This makes it easy to get around the area on foot or by bike. During the summer months, electric scooters are available, offering a convenient and eco-friendly way to move around the area, even reaching the town center!
